Karen began practicing bodywork with Shiatsu, Japanese massage, in 2000 and complemented this training with studies in trigger point therapy, myofascial release, jin shin do acupressure, shin so shiatsu, yoga and meditation. Before this she completed a significant amount of training in holistic wellness including nutrition, herbalism and aromatherapy.
She furthered her education with the completion of the 2200 hour massage therapy program in Calgary, Alberta where, along with learning a variety of therapeutic massage technique and theory, there was a strong emphasis on anatomy and physiology, orthopedic assessment, kinesiology and remedial exercise.
She believes a healthy, active lifestyle is crucial in both maintaining wellness and preventing health concerns. She listens to and assesses the individual needs of each person and approaches every treatment as a new experience with fresh hands and an open mind.
